THE Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate arrest of Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kano, accusing him of inciting tensions inside the state.

This decision comes only two days after Bayero was ousted by the governor.

According to a press statement published early this morning by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the former emir was purportedly smuggled into Kano last night in an attempt to forcefully recapture the palace.

The announcement, issued at 7:00 a.m. in Kano, revealed that the new Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, arrived at the palace on Saturday around 1:00 a.m., escorted by the Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker of the State Assembly, and other key government officials.

“As the Chief Security Officer of the State, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest the deposed emir with immediate effect for disturbing public peace and attempting to destroy the state’s relative peace,” read the statement from Tofa, who serves as the Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House in Kano.

The statement emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, stating that any actions that jeopardized this stability would be dealt with harsh consequences.

As the issue evolves, all eyes are on Kano State to see how the authorities handle the arrest and ensuing legal processes. These measures will definitely have far-reaching consequences for the state’s political and social fabric.
