KADUNA: Troops neutralise six bandits in Birnin-Gwari, recover arms

TROOPS from the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralised six bandits in a recent operation carried out in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna, marking another triumph for the security forces in combating terrorism in the North-Western region.

According to Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the troops from Sector 4 of Operation Whirl Punch and 198 Special Forces Battalion conducted targeted operations in response to intelligence on terrorist activities in Birnin Gwari LGA.

During the operation, the soldiers cleared key areas in Maidaro, Ngade Alha, Dogon Dawa, Damari, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa, Maganda, Sabon Layi, and Kampanin Doka villages.

The troops in confrontations with the bandits at Saulawa and Farin Ruwa, engaged in gunfire exchanges resulting in the neutralization of two criminals in Saulawa and four in Farin Ruwa.

They recovered weapons like a GPMG, AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, and a motorcycle.

The Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani commended the troops under the leadership of Major General Marenyiso Saraso for their significant progress in the fight against banditry.

The governor also lauded their accomplishment as a testament of effective collaboration and coordination between the security forces and government support.

He urged the soldiers to maintain their relentless pursuit of dismantling the bandits’ strongholds.
