KYLIAN Mbappe is expected to miss France’s second Euro 2024 European Championship group fixture against the Netherlands after suffering a broken nose in last night’s 1-0 win over Austria.

Reports from across Europe then claimed today that the France captain will be allowed time to be in contention to face Poland in the final group game next week.

The French Football Federation also confirmed that the new Real Madrid forward would not require surgery on the injury, which would have ruled him out for the remainder of the competition, but will instead wear a custom-made mask when he returns.

The 25-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain forward was forced off during the 1-0 win over Austria after his face hit opponent Kevin Danso’s shoulder in the follow-through from an aerial challenge.

He was taken to Dusseldorf hospital where the nose break was confirmed.

“He has returned to the base camp of the French team,” the FFF said.

“He will undergo treatment in the coming days, without undergoing surgery immediately.”
