A young man known as Endwell Ejindu was fatally shot in Rivers State.

The tragic incident took place yesterday in the Ahoada East Local Government Area.

Ejindu was the Student Union Government (SUG) President of Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, during the 2017/2018 academic year.

Reports reveal that he participated in a protest alongside other youths at the council headquarters yesterday, as seen in a viral video on social media showing him chanting and carrying an Ijaw Youth Council flag.

Eyewitnesses, although with limited information, reported that while on a commercial motorcycle, Ejindu was shot at close range by unidentified attackers along Ula-Upata Road in Ahoada main town around 9 pm yesterday.

As of the time of reporting, the Rivers State Police Command had not issued a statement regarding the incident.

Ejindu’s death brings the number of casualties in the state over the past 24 hours, to a total of three.

Among the victims were a police officer and a vigilante operative who were shot dead yesterday in Eberi-Omuma.
