MICHAEL Olise, the French youth international with Nigerian heritage, has completed his move from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich.

Both clubs confirmed the deal for the wide forward tonight, with the wide forward signing a five-year contract.

The deal is worth £45m in transfer fee and another £5m in add-ons.

“FC Bayern have signed Michael Olise. The 22-year-old forward moves to Munich from English Premier League club Crystal Palace on a five-year contract valid through to 30 June 2029,” the German giants announced on their official website.

Palace, who have had Olise for three years years, wished him well in his new adventure.

The Chairman of the English Premier League club Steve Parish said: “We are hugely proud of what Michael has achieved at Crystal Palace, a club where he has developed greatly as a player.

“We respect his desire to further test himself at the highest level of world football, and I would like to personally wish him the very best for his next adventure with Bayern Munich in Germany which I’m sure we will all follow closely.”

Oliseh was born in London to a French-Algerian mother and Nigerian father and came through the youth systems at Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before joining Reading, where he made his senior debut in March 2019.

He moved to Crystal Palace for the 2021/2022 season, where he scored 16 goals and provided 25 assists in 90 competitive appearances.

He has French citizenship and has opted to represent France at youth level, competing at last summer’s U-21 European Championship and so far earning seven U-21 caps (one goal).

“The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club,” Olise said of his move.

“It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”

Christoph Freund, Bayern sporting director, listed the attributes of Olise that attracted the club, saying: “Michael is quick, tricky, a goal threat and very versatile in attack. His goals and assists stats are already outstanding.

“At the age of 22, Michael is already very advanced, but is also hungry and still has a lot of potential. Fans come to the stadium to see players like Michael Olise.”
