VICTOR Osimhen has started preparations with Napoli for next season even as the Super Eagles star is still expected to leave the club this summer.
The striker and the 2022/2023 Serie A champions are waiting for offers from clubs across Europe, with reports that Napoli have lowered their asking price for Osimhen.
The Nigeria international arrived at Castel Volturno this morning to undergo medical examinations with Napoli and start the pre-season under Antonio Conte, Football Italia has reported.
Osimhen and Napoli reportedly agreed that he would be allowed to leave the club after he signed a contract extension with a €130m release clause, but no formal offer has been made yet.
Despite links with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli have not yet heard from potential suitors, so Osimhen will start preparing for the new campaign with the rest of the team.
La Repubblica reported that Osimhen was among the first players to arrive at Napoli’s training centre this morning.
The group included Leonardo Spinazzola and Rafa Marin, who had had medical tests yesterday, while Alessandro Buongiorno will undergo examinations tomorrow.
Former Chelsea manager Conte is prepared to part company with Osimhen, as the new Napoli coach explained in his first press conference, with Romelu Lukaku emerging as the primary option to replace the 25-year-old Nigeria striker.
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 for around €80m and he was the top scorer in Serie A last season as they won their first Scudetto in 33 years.
