The Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okojie Foundation has set off plans to support the education of indigent students in the state, irrespective of religion, denomination or social class by raising funds to send them back to school.
This year’s fundraising was in form of a musical concert tagged ‘ Canticum Caritas Concert’ was recently held at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Muritala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The foundation partnered with Knights of St. John International, Archdiocese of Lagos to raise funds for indigent students in the state.
During the event, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, during his remarks posited that the church is known for portraying the love of Christ in every aspect of her activities, and has through this project, shown deep concerns for the needy by organizing a charity concert of this magnitude, to support the education of indigent students, irrespective of class, religion and denomination in the state.

Meanwhile, he encouraged all lay faithful to be open-hearted towards the under-served in our communities.
Also speaking at the event concerning the aim of the fundraising and the mission of the foundation, the Director of the Catholic Lay Apostolate centre, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Anthony Cardinal Okojie Foundation, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Ibe said “The Foundation is basically set up to raise financial support for young persons in secondary or tertiary institutions who are brilliant but do not have the funds to carry them through their academics.”
“The foundation was set up in the name and honour of our former archbishop, Anthony Cardinal Okojie who when he was the leader of all Catholic churches in the archdiocese of Lagos exemplified true leadership.”
“For 13 years, the church has been contributing its quota to rendering support to people who need help. This year’s event is the fourteenth edition and for this year, the BoT of ACOF is responsible for its planning and execution.”

Fr. Hyacinth also thanked everyone who used their time and resources to ensure the success of the event while calling on individuals and groups to be benevolent in helping the needy.
The Grand President of the Knight of St. John international, Archdiocese of Lagos, Sir (Engr) Peter Eluyefa, while speaking at the charity event ‘Canticum Caritas Concert’, expressed his joy towards members of Knight of St John international for their commitment and zeal towards championing the cause of charity and selflessness in the archdiocese.
“We celebrate the archbishop emeritus of the archdiocese every year through a program like this. Knight of St John international is glad to be partnering with the archdiocese to raise funds for indigent students.”
“This year’s fundraising is unique, this is not our first time supporting the archdiocese, but this year, we introduced a charity concert to spice up the occasion, he said.”
Eluyefa, however, thanked the members of Knights of St John international for coming out in their numbers to obey the call to service.
