Barcelona have reportedly contacted River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo to replace Ronald Koeman as the club’s head coach.
Koeman is still in his position at the Camp Nou as things are, but there could be a change at the top during the next international break.
Though legendary midfielder Xavi and Belgian coach Roberto Martínez have been linked to work at Barcelona, but according to RAC1, the Catalan giant have already reached out to Gallardo.
The report states that the 45-year-old is not willing to terminate his contract with River early, but his contract expires at the end of December, so he would be willing to move to Spain in January.
Gallardo, who played for Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) during his playing days, has been in charge of Los Millonarios since 2014.
Barcelona have reportedly decided to keep Koeman in his role for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, even as he would be in the stands serving the second of a two-match suspension.
