The President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Dr Azeez Ojekunle, has urged the state government to fulfil the association’s demands.
Recall that the resident doctors had a meeting with the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on September 6 where the governor promised to fulfil the demands that the doctors tabled before him.
Ojekunle, told newsmen on Monday that “We are still awaiting the payment of the Residency Training Fund which has commenced at the federal level. We were promised a week when we met with the governor, but it is almost four weeks since we had the meeting.
“The government has released the explanatory clarification circular on the removal of the House Officers and the NYSC doctors from the scheme of service. The recruitment process is also ongoing. However, on the residential quarters’ project, we’ve been told that they are in the process of procurement. We pray that the contractors move to the site and commence work.”
He also said that state NARD would resume on Wednesday as ordered by the national body.
Ojekunle further posited, “The strike was called by our national body and now that NARD has suspended it, we will definitely go in line with the suspension of the strike effective from Wednesday.”
