This is good news for Nigerian Fathers as the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has just approved 14-day paternity leave to allow fathers to properly bond with the newborn baby or adopted one.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, disclosed this on Wednesday, September 29, while briefing State House Correspondents at the end of the Council’s weekly meeting held at the First Lady’s Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, flanked by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, explained that paternity leave was approved for men when their wives delivered new babies.
She said that bonding was important to help the newly born or adopted baby properly bond with the father as early as the baby bonds with the others.
