The late Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi’s wife, Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, is dead.
The former first lady died on Monday at 97. She would have celebrated her 98th birthday on November 21, 2021.
In 1966, Victoria’s husband Aguiyi-Ironsi served as the Military Head of State of the Nigerian National Military Government for six months until he was overthrown and assassinated.
According to reports, when her residence was visited at Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, her son Ambassador Thomson Aguiyi-Ironsi, was not available.
However, when contacted by telephone, he simply said he would be speaking about the incident soon.
Lady Aguiyi-Ironsi was born in November 1923.
