The Lagos State government has denied reports that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa`ad Abubakar III, snubbed Governor Babajide Sanwoolu at an event recently.
The official denial is in reaction to a viral video released by Africa Independent Television (AIT) that shows the monarch snubbing the governor during the 2020 leadership awards and conference held in Abuja last week Thursday
The event was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Ministers, Governors, politicians among other dignitaries.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho on Wednesday, the LASG denied the video showing the governor being snubbed by the monarch.
Omotosho stated that the video is spiteful and, therefore, condemned the attempt to destroy the image of the governor and the Sultan.
The Commissioner reproved the media for trying to incite discontent between Governor SanwoOlu and the monarch.
The statement added that the Sultan could not have considered snubbing Governor Sanwo-Olu or any other governor in Nigeria.
He, therefore, urged the public to ignore the video and continue to support the Sanwo-Olu government.
