ADEMOLA Lookman and Atalanta appear to have settled their differences, with the forward returning to training after a mini-boycott.
The Super Eagles forward starred for Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday last week but asked to be left out of their squad for Monday night’s Serie A opener against Lecce after reportedly learning of interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Lookman also sat out training yesterday and he was heavily linked with a €50m move to Arsenal, with PSG reportedly pulling out of the race for him.
However, the 26-year-old was back in training with the UEFA Europa League holders this morning, having apparently held talks with the club regarding his future.
According to European transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the transfer chances for Lookman have ‘faded’ and the ’emergency is over’ as the Nigeria international is now set to stay in Bergamo this season at least.
Lookman is an important player for Atalanta, where he has now spent two seasons, and he was the star of their Europa League triumph with his historic hat-trick in the 3-0 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen in May.
According to Football Italia, Atalanta are prepared to double Lookman’s current wages after he scored 17 goals with 10 assists in 45 competitive games last season.
