SUPER Eagles defender Ola Aina has suggested that he could remain at Nottingham Forest beyond the current season, with reports claiming he is holding talks with the English club over a new contract.

The 27-year-old Nigeria international joined Forest on a free transfer in June 2023, and his current contract expires in June 2025.

“All I can say is I am really happy at Forest,” the full-back told BBC Radio Nottinghamshire on Friday when asked if he was negotiating a new deal with Forest.

“Fantastic club, I feel at home and we’re just building. I’m building, the club’s building. Let’s just see what happens in the future.”

The former Chelsea star has had an impressive start to the 2023/2024 English Premier League season, starting all the matches for Forest so far and posting an outstanding performance in the shock 1-0 win at Liverpool last week.

Speaking on his strong display against Liverpool last Saturday, Aina said: “It [the mood around the club] is really good, you know, we’re just building from last season,” he added about life at the City Ground.

“Last season was difficult at times but the mood and energy around the club was still positive and I feel like we’ve built on that. There is definitely a good feeling around the club because we’ve started well and we just want to build on each performance every week.

“We’ve always been together. Going through those difficulties last season has helped bring the team together, but even without those difficulties I think we’re a close-knit team and it does show on the pitch. We’re ready to fight for each other and do that extra bit of each other.”
