OGUN: Five suspects arraigned for stealing N25m Milo truck

FIVE men accused of stealing a truckload of Milo products valued at N25 million yesterday appeared before the Magistrate Court in Ota, Ogun State.

The defendants—Temidire Ramon, 35; Aminu Yusuf, 26; Olusola Opadare, 35; Oludayo Adeleye, 38; and Amodu Jimoh, 51—are facing charges of theft and conspiracy.

Prosecutor Insp. E.O. Adaraloye informed the court that the alleged offenses took place on October 13, 2020, in Agbara, Ogun State.

According to the charge sheet reviewed, it states: “That you, Temidire Ramon, Aminu Yusuf, Olusola Opadare, Oludayo Adeleye, and Amodu Jimoh, on October 13, 2020, at Agbara, Ogun State, in the Ota Magisterial District, conspired to commit a felony, specifically theft, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.

“That you, Temidire Ramon, Aminu Yusuf, Olusola Opadare, Oludayo Adeleye, and Amodu Jimoh, on the same date, time, and place, did steal a full trailer load of Nestle Milo products, consisting of 44 pallets valued at N25 million, the property of Nestle Nigeria Plc, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.

“That you, Temidire Ramon, Aminu Yusuf, Olusola Opadare, Oludayo Adeleye, and Amodu Jimoh, on the same date, time, and place, did receive a full trailer load of Nestle Milo products, 44 pallets valued at N25 million, the property of Nestle Nigeria Plc, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 427 of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.”

Adaraloye stated that the defendants conspired to steal the truckload of Milo products belonging to Nestle. He noted that the offenses violated Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O.A. Onagoruwa granted each defendant bail set at N500,000, requiring two sureties for each, also in the same amount.

Onagoruwa stipulated that the sureties must be gainfully employed and reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and they must provide evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government. The case has been adjourned to December 12 for further hearing.
