The Nigerian film industry is mourning the sudden death of Rotimi Raji, popularly known as “Genius,” one of Nollywood’s most creative movie directors.
Raji tragically passed away on Saturday at his home in Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos. Reports indicate that he collapsed in his bathroom and died.
According to sources, Raji, who lived alone, was discovered by a concerned neighbour who went to check on him.
After repeatedly calling his name without receiving a response, the neighbour noticed that one of Raji’s windows was open. Peering inside, he saw Raji lying motionless on the bathroom floor.
Alarmed, the neighbour knocked on the door several times, but there was still no answer.
Eventually, with the help of others, they forced the door open and confirmed their worst fears: Rotimi Raji had passed away.
His body has since been taken to the mortuary, and his family plans to conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of his death.
Rotimi Raji was widely known for his remarkable storytelling, creativity, and immense contributions to Nollywood. His passing is a significant loss to the industry.
