D’TIGERS of Nigeria got the better of hosts Libya 75-70 in their opening game of the second window of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket qualifying tournament in Tripoli tonight.
Former champions D’Tigers fought back from being behind in the first two quarters to clinch the key win.
The Libyans led the first quarter 15-14 and went into half-time up 35-32.
The Nigerian team then bounced back and led 52-51 at the end of the third quarter and held on to win by five points.
D’Tigers will be back tomorrow to face Uganda, who also got their qualifying campaign off to a bright start with a 63-60 win over Cape Verde today.
The 2025 AfroBasket tournament will be held in Angola from August 12 to August 24.
Teams who have so far qualified for the tournament are DR Congo, Senegal, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt and defending champions Tunisia, with 16 teams set to will compete.
