THE Lagos State Police Command has arrested two Pakistani nationals, Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), for allegedly kidnapping a fellow Pakistani for ransom in the Ikeja area of Lagos.
According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspects were apprehended yesterday following a distress call received at the Ikeja Police Division.
Investigations revealed that the two suspects, along with five others who are still at large, lured the 48-year-old victim from Kano to Lagos under the pretense of offering him a job as a chef.
“The suspects booked the victim’s flight to Lagos and lodged him in a hotel on February 28, 2025,”* Hundeyin stated.
The following day, the kidnappers visited the victim, overpowered him, tied his hands and legs, and demanded a ₦50 million ransom from his employer in Kano. To buy time, the employer paid ₦1 million three days later before alerting the police.
Following the distress call, the anti-crime patrol team swiftly moved in, rescued the victim, and arrested two of the suspects, while five others managed to escape.
Recovered exhibits included a grey Toyota Camry, $2,000 cash belonging to the victim, three ATM cards, a green card, a driver’s license, and an NIN slip.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the officers of the Ikeja Division for their swift response and assured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring security in the state.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the remaining suspects, while the rescued victim is in good condition and has reestablished contact with his family.
