THE Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a notorious gang of thieves, including an ex-convict, who specialized in stealing motor vehicles, motorcycles, and domestic animals.

The police spokesperson SP Shi’isu Adam confirmed that the arrests were made through intelligence gathering and swift response by the police.

According to Adam, at about 3:00 a.m. on March 7, 2025, a black Golf Wagon (X MG 102 AAA Jigawa) was spotted abandoned near Gidan Tilo village along the Shuwarin-Kiyawa road in Kiyawa LGA. Suspecting criminal activity, a patrol team was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police found 20-year-old Alhassan Isiyaku, alias Tata, hiding inside the vehicle. A search of the car led to the discovery of a bag containing master keys, ropes, an iron cutter, a padlock, and a flog spanner.

Isiyaku was immediately arrested and taken to the station, where he confessed to specializing in animal rustling, tricycle theft, motorcycle theft, and motor vehicle theft.

He also named his accomplice, Umar Abdullahi, who was later arrested. Abdullahi admitted to stealing solar batteries and electric armor cables.

Interestingly, police records show that Isiyaku had previously been arrested on February 21, 2025, for stealing a Mazda 323 (MNA 139HK Niger State).

In a separate case, 30-year-old Mujitaba Suleiman, a resident of Roni LGA, was arrested for stealing a motorcycle worth ₦800,000.

According to Adam, Suleiman was rescued by a patrol team from Kazaure Division before being taken to the station for interrogation, where he confessed to the crime.

The Jigawa Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to combating crime and bringing all suspects to justice. The command also urged the public to continue providing useful information to help rid the state of criminal elements.
