BOKO HARAM insurgents have killed 14 farmers and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in separate attacks across Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The two CJTF members were reportedly ambushed at Sabon-Gari, near Kirawa, while returning from a routine patrol in their vehicle on Friday.

According to sources in Gwoza, the terrorists opened fire during the ambush, killing two of the volunteers, while the driver managed to escape with injuries.

Meanwhile, the farmers were attacked and killed yesterday while heading to their farms.

The Emir of Gwoza, Mohammed Idris Timta, explained that the farmers had strayed beyond the areas designated as safe for farming, where the terrorists were hiding.

He noted that the farmers were unaccompanied by security personnel, as usually required.

The Emir revealed that 10 bodies were initially recovered, with four more found today bringing the death toll to 14.

He added that the attack took place in a community located directly under the Mandara Mountains, between Pulka and Ngoshe.
