Annie Macaulay, the estranged wife of Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, publicly confirmed their divorce at the 17th Headies Awards held on Sunday night.
The actress made this announcement while on stage with Farooq Oreagba, the widely admired “King of Steeze” from the 2024 Ojude Oba festival, as they presented the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year.
While introducing herself, Annie corrected herself, indicating her decision to revert to her maiden name, Macaulay. “Annie Idi… Oh, sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she exclaimed, eliciting cheers from the audience.
It is worth noting that when Annie returned to social media in March—almost two months after 2Baba publicly announced their breakup—she signed off her posts with her full name, Annie Uwana Macaulay, noticeably omitting the “Idibia” surname.
Her marriage to 2Baba, with whom she shares two children, officially ended in January 2025 when the singer announced their separation.
Following this, 2Baba proposed to his new fiancée, Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, and introduced her to his family and community in Benue State where they had their low-key traditional marriage.
