THE Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has suspended two Mogajis—family heads—from their traditional roles over allegations of land grabbing and misconduct.

The affected chiefs are Kamorudeen Kolawole (Mogaji Kukula of the Kukula family, Oke-Ofa Baba Isale, Ibadan North East LGA) and Samsudeen Bello (Mogaji of the Ekerin Ajengbe family, Isale Osi, Ibadan South West LGA).

Both were stripped of their traditional beads, and their suspension takes immediate effect.

The announcement was made yesterday during a meeting of the Olubadan Land Matters Committee, held at the Old Olubadan Palace, Oja Oba, and was formally released today by the monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade.

Speaking through the Otun Olubadan, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the king stated that the suspension would remain in force indefinitely unless the chiefs took corrective actions.

“You have been warned repeatedly against conduct that undermines the integrity of the Olubadan institution—particularly acts like land grabbing, forceful possession, and harassment of community members,” the monarch declared.

The suspended chiefs have also been warned against parading themselves as traditional title holders, and law enforcement agencies have been instructed to arrest any who defy the directive.

Oba Olakulehin expressed concern over the growing trend of disobedience among some Mogajis and Baales, especially those who fail to attend committee meetings when summoned.

He warned that continued disregard for traditional authority could result in further disciplinary actions, including loss of title.

Among those present at the meeting were high-ranking traditional leaders, including Oba Abiodun Kola Daisi (Ashipa Olubadan), Oba Dauda Abiodun Azees (Ashipa Balogun), and Oba Salaudeen Hamidu Ajibade (Ekerin Olubadan), as well as several key members of the Mogaji Council and Olubadan’s advisers on chieftaincy matters.
