Davido has seemingly confirmed his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s impending defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
There are rumours that Adeleke plans to switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
These rumours began last month following a private meeting between Davido, Governor Adeleke, and President Bola Tinubu at his residence in Lagos.
In his newly released single titled “From Umbrella to Broom” (symbolizing the transition from PDP to APC), Davido hinted at the planned defection.
In the song, Davido expresses, “New broom go sweep better. Ẹtan abẹla si ìjọba wa. From umbrella to the broom. Adegbe adafa, alagbada alefa.”
He continues, “Eyan marun, mefa, kilode ta n suffer. New broom go sweep better. Them tori us propaganda from January to December we no gbadun NEPA. So all of our youths wan go America,” which translates to the sentiment that they are suffering and questioning why, when change can bring improvement.
