Nigerian Idol: Fierce contest as contestants, battle for top 10

THE theatre week of the widely-viewed music reality show, Nigerian Idol Season 7, would on Sunday see 75 contestants showcasing their exceptional musical talents, all in a bid to outwit one another to be among the next round of 25 that would make it to the top10 for the live performance on March 20, 2022.

   NaijaTimes had earlier reported how some of the contestants from the over 4,000 participants auditioned, with their sonorous and melodious voices, serenaded the judges to pick the golden ticket to advance to the Theatre Week stage of the show. 

   After what would be considered a fierce battle, the successful contestants were selected in teams, with praises and encouragement from the guest judge, Yinka Davies, a popular vocalist, dancer, and lyricist; Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, and the creative industry entrepreneur, Obi Asika.

   While it would be end of the road for many that could not impress the judges, the successful top 10 contestants that would be selected for the live shows will be showcasing their musical prowess and entertaining the voting audience in their bid to outwit one another to get the winning prize of N100,000,000 worth of prizes, which include a recording deal from a label, a brand-new SUV, cash prizes, and other exciting gifts.

   The hugely viewed reality TV show, which is aired on DStv Channel 197 and GOtv Channel 29, is bankrolled by the award-winning Bigi carbonated soft drink with its 13 unique variants from the stable of Rite Foods, a world- class and proudly Nigerian food and beverage company.

   Speaking on the sponsorship, Rite Foods Managing Director, Seleem Adegunwa, said the music reality show is aimed at the discovery and nurturing music talents among budding artistes in the Nigeria, as well as the promotion of the entertainment industry, where skills abound.

   He avowed that Bigi will continually refresh the contestants during the live show, as the brand with its variants would meet their tastes, being a product that is produced with the best technology, and up-to-the-minute infrastructure, in a world- class factory.

   Similarly, the company’s Brand Manager, Boluwatife Adedugbe, remarked that the Bigi brand portfolio is sponsoring Nigerian Idol Season 7 like it did last year, to help young Nigerian singers attain their dreams of becoming megastars.
