ARSENAL returned to fourth place in the Premier League on Sunday with a comfortable 2-0 over Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners earned a fifth successful league victory with goals from Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey and Alexandre Lacazette.

The deserved victory at Emirates Stadium lifted Arsenal back into fourth place, one point above Manchester United, who beat fellow top-four contenders Tottenham on Saturday.

Partey, who will face the Super Eagles in late March in the World Cup playoffs, headed Arsenal into the lead from Gabriel Martinelli’s corner after 11 minutes as Arsenal dominated from the start.

Partey also struck the crossbar as he controlled the midfield against Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, while Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale twice denied Harvey Barnes with superb saves

Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu was penalised for handball after a lengthy video assistant referee review, with Lacazette scoring from the penalty spot in the 59th minute.

Soyuncu received only a yellow card as Partey’s still goal-bound header was cleared off the line by Luke Thomas.

Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho was given a rare start in the absence of Jamie Vardy but the Super Eagles star was taken off in the 74th minute for Zambia striker Patson Daka.

Ndidi also did not last the full match, making way for Nampalys Mendy in the 62st minute.
