The League Management Company has descended heavily on Kano Pillars for the violent actions of their fans.

Kano Pillars fans unleashed mayhem on Saturday and disrupted their side’s Nigeria Professional Football League match against Katsina United, destroying the visiting team’s bus among other damages.

Incidentally, Pillars were playing their first match back in Kano at the Sani Abacha Stadium after playing their home games in Kaduna since the beginning of the season.

In a swift decision to deter Pillars and other clubs from more acts of violence, the LMC issued several sanctions against the Kano club.

Pillars will have to pay a N9 million fine, which is the heaviest the LMC has ever imposed.

They have also had three points deducted immediately from their haul, and three more points suspended in case of any breach.

Kano Pillars will have to carry out full repairs or replacement of the severely damaged Katsina United bus.

The Sani Abacha Stadium has also been suspended indefinitely from hosting league matches, while Kano Pillars fans are banned indefinitely from attending the club’s games.

The club’s home matches for the rest of the season will now be played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja behind closed doors.
