In typical Igbo communities, people are not known, called or greeted by their given names, but rather by their titles. Going by this, recent development in the social space brought to front burner the issue of titleship.
Nigerian Grammy award winner, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu better known as Burna Boy had hours ago called out billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, for using the title ‘Odogwu’ without his consent to promote his product, Odogwu Bitters.
Recall that the Oba, Anambra-born entrepreneur recently ventured into another line of business with the launch of Odogwu Bitters, a prmium herbal alcoholic drink that had been making waves in the market since its entrance some weeks ago.
Burna Boy demanded the Cubana group founder pay him for using the ‘Odogwu’ title.
According to him, Obi Cubana had gone ahead and used his title for his products without paying reference to him.
Reacting to development, the afrobeat singer in a video that is now viral irged the businessman to do the needful.
“Them do Odogwu Bitters dem no give me money. Wetin dey happen? Those people wey do Odogwu Bitters dem dey owe me money. So make them pay – I go send them account,” Burna Boy said in the video.
The self-acclaimed African giant while addressing a gathering in the video, also called on those using ‘Odogwu’ as their brand name to pay him because he is the rightful owner of the name.
He, also stated that Nigerians should stop calling people Odogwu and anyone else using the name will have to pay royalty to him.
