NIGERIA Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has expressed confidence in the Super Falcons to be successful in their quest to win their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
The Super Falcons will be defending the crown they won in 2018 when they and 11 other African teams do battle in Morocco from July 2 to July 23.
Pinnick believes that with hard work, diligence, focus, team spirit and oneness of purpose, the Super Falcons will successfully retain their African title and claim La Decima (number 10).
“Nothing can undermine a team that is fully focused, united in aspiration, and working and walking on the same wavelength,” the FIFA Council member told the Super Falcons in Abuja.
“I want you to go to Morocco as one indivisible force, allow your passion to be fuelled by patriotism and be good ambassadors of our great nation.
“You all have a responsibility to be good role models and great motivators to our younger players (in the youth teams).”
While advising the players to be disciplined in Morocco, Pinnick insisted that the squad is good enough to once again conquer Africa.
He added: “Beyond all, you must be beacons of discipline and dedication, and exhibit exemplary conduct on and off the pitch.
“We won the trophy at the last tournament in Ghana and I believe we have the team to retain it.
“The NFF will continue to support and encourage the team with the best of preparations, conducive environment and a comfortable stay at the championship in Morocco.”
Almost all the 32 players invited are already in their Abuja camp, including captain Onome Ebi, Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala, Leicester City defender Ashleigh Plumptre and France-based goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
The Super Falcons begin their journey in Morocco on July 4 against South Africa in a Group C clash, before facing Burundi and Botswana in other group fixtures.
