Atalanta have sealed the deal to acquire Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig.
The Super Eagles forward signed a long-term contract with the Serie A club last night, and was described as a ‘superhero’.
“Atalanta BC announces the definitive purchase of the player Ademola Lookman from RB Leipzig,” the Italian club stated.
“Born in Wandsworth on 20 October 1997, he is a very fast and technical attacking winger, skilled in dribbling and attacking depth, able to cover more positions on the offensive front.”
The permanent transfer is believed to be worth around €15m including add-ons, with the 24-year-old signing a contract tying him to Atalanta until June 2026, with an option to extend for another year.
“Welcome, @Alookman_! There’s a new superhero in #Bergamo,” Atalanta added on Twitter.
Lookman’s arrival means Atalanta can let go of Aleksei Miranchuk to undergo his medical with Torino ahead of a loan move with an option to buy.
The Nigeria international played at youth level for England and won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup with the young Lions. But he switched allegiance to his parents’ country this year and has made four appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring once.
He has played for Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham and Leicester City (both on loan) as well as RB Leipzig.
