GUNMEN suspected to be kidnappers, on Thursday, reportedly, killed the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adeusi.

 The king, a first class monarch, was reportedly killed while returning to his town after attending the Council of Obas meeting in Akure, the state capital on Thursday.

According to reports from our correspondent, the king was shot at Elegbeka, few kilometers from Owo town.

There are also reports that the Elegbeka route has become a hotbed of kidnapping as two persons were reportedly kidnapped at the spot few minutes after the monarch was shot.

The king was said to have been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo when he passed away.

In a similar vein, another dastardly act took place in Ode-Irele of Irele local government area in Ondo State yesterday, when armed robbers attacked a Bank and nearby police station.

Two persons were said to be shot in the course of the attack.

The robbers who reportedly arrived the Bank at 3:15pm in a Toyota picnic vehicle numbered about 10 and operated for roughly 47 minutes.

According to an eyewitness, who said to he was making some transactions when the robbers arrived, the robbers also attacked the closest police station to the bank and looted some fire arms.

“I was trying to withdraw some money from the ATM when the robbers suddenly arrived, two persons sustained gunshot injuries while the robbery lasted for about 47 minutes. Some of them also went to attack the Police station. They also left with the bank manager’s car,” he said.

An undisclosed amount of money was also carted away by the robbers.

The robbery incident came hours after the Inspector General of Police had left the state.

It was gathered that the army got to the bank just few minutes after the robbers had left.

The state police PRO, Mr. Tee-leo Ikoro, confirmed the attack on the monarch, he assured that the culprits will soon be apprehended as the commissioner of Police has deployed officers to comb the area and arrest the hoodlums.

“The CP has given an order that the perpetrators must be arrested and brought to justice. We have mobilised our men to the area and we have sought the assistance of the military and other security agencies, and also the local hunters in the area to ensure that the hoodlums are apprehended,” he said.

He, however, said he was yet to confirm the bank robbery from the Divisional Police Officer in the town.
