WHAT is reality I ponder. Reality is what I see, feel emotionally and experience. Reality is truth. If reality is truth why is it hard to accept. The truth, which is what set each soul free, ought not to be hard to accept. Religious leaders over the years have driven the essence of acknowledging the truth.
Truth, which is the light that brightens the darkness, and gives peace of mind as the fables of old we were told under the mango tree, is no longer of essence in the times that we live now.
Reality and truth appear to be twins, with reality leading the way and truth always in support. However, truth does not need reality as much to grow. Reality is an event while truth is the interpretation of the event subject to the interpreter of the event; so, truth is relegated to what it does for me and what I get from it.
Truth has been so abused by the institutions that are supposed to champion its cause, thereby making it lose its validity; from the religious institutions to all social justice institutions, truth has lost its essence. The few who dare to speak or associate with truth are run down by the defenders of falsehood.
Our politicians exploit truth like a prostitute that cannot just get enough; it is so bad that the truth they speak is that which lines their pockets with wealth and discredits reality.
Truth stands the test of time, it keeps evolving, does not rest, always seeking to rear its head even in perilous times. Reality however is manipulated to look like truth. Truth is the existence of Covid-19, reality is the number of infection and death across the globe.
Truth is the killing of peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll-gate, reality is the fact that no corpses are yet to be discovered. Truth is the defeat of Donald Trump; reality is his refusal to consent. If truth creates absolute peace, why then is it denied?
Truth and reality are often manipulated so often to satisfy ego, even though ego lacks substance, man interprets his own reality as truth and imposes his own realities on others. It is almost as if everyone is blind as truth quietly stares them in the face. Confidence seems to have eroded truth, and have been taken hostage by lies. Walking with head up, shoulders high with elaborate steps in truth only reside in the fables of under the mango tree.
Truth is cheap, free as air, its calm, offers relief, and gives rest. Let’s embrace it, even when its not to our advantage. We learn from every opportunity and get better; however, we lose everything when we subdue truth.
