Semi Ajayi will be working under a new head coach when he returns from an injury lay-off, following the sacking of Steve Bruce.
The Super Eagles defender has been out of action since sustaining a ligament injury on August 30, and West Brom have not won any of their six Championship fixtures without him.
Having won just one of their 13 league games this season, West Brom decided to sack Bruce today.
“West Bromwich Albion have today parted company with Manager Steve Bruce,” the club announced on their official website this morning.
“Backroom staff Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce have also left The Hawthorns.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Steve Bruce and his coaching staff for their efforts since arriving in February.
“Under-21s coach Richard Beale will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis, assisted by James Morrison and Gary Walsh.
“The process of recruiting a new Manager is now under way and an appointment will be confirmed in due course.”
The 61-year-old ex-Manchester United defender and captain was in charge for eight months and his last game was the Baggies’ home draw with Luton Town on Saturday.
In his 24 years as a coach, Bruce has had some success, winning promotion from the Championship to the Premier League four times — twice with both Birmingham City and Hull City.
West Brom won just eight of his 32 games in charge.
