The 2023/2024 Premier League season will take place from August 12, 2023 to May 19, 2024, the organisers have announced.
The league body said today that the campaign will include a mid-season break for the first time ever between January 13 and January 20, 2024.
Also, no two rounds of matches in the busy Christmas and New Year period will be played within 48 hours of each other as has been allowed in the past.
“The season schedule returns to normal following the Covid-19 pandemic and the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which provided disruption during the previous three seasons,” the Premier League said in an official statement today.
The current campaign will go on break from November 13 for the 2022 World Cup taking place between November 20 and December 18 in Qatar.
The Premier League matches will resume on December 26.
Players are scheduled to have 76 days between the end of the current season and the start of the next campaign.
There have been complaints over the years about a lack of a mid-season break in the Premier League, which is a tradition in almost all the other leagues in Europe.
