FIRE catastrophes that happened in various locations in Kano State in the month of November 2022 have claimed the lives of at least 19 persons and destroyed property worth N36 million.

The information was revealed in a statement released today by Saminu Abdullahi, the state Fire Service’s public relations officer.

In a similar vein, he said that throughout the evaluation time, service employees had managed to save property worth N83 million.

Adding that 71 individuals were successfully rescued from numerous fire disasters that occurred throughout the state.

Abdullahi stated further that over the course of the evaluation period, the Agency received 76 fire calls, 44 rescue calls, and 16 false alarms at its 27 fire stations.

“We will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care to avoid inferno, more especially during this harmattan period.

“I will like to enlighten the public on the dangers of bush burning. During this harmattan season, bush burning could lead to fire outbreak.”

“Our call to households and shop owners is to always put electrical appliances off when not in use to avoid fire outbreaks,” Abdullahi stated.
