PAUL Onuachu is keen to join one of the major leagues in Europe if the opportunity comes anytime soon.
The towering Super Eagles striker has been consistently prolific at Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk in recent seasons.
He was also a high-scoring striker for FC Midtjylland in Denmark before making the switch to Belgium, but he is eyeing one of the top championships now.
“I score a lot, I like being here. But if there is an interesting offer this winter or next summer, we will look at it together with Genk,” Onuachu told Belgian outlet HLN in an interview.
“Because I still dream of playing in a big league. Who knows, anything can happen in football. But I’m still very happy at KRC Genk and I don’t necessarily have to leave.
“You should be happy with what you have and not think about what you don’t have. If there is concrete interest in the future, we will talk and then we will see.”
Onuachu, who has scored 82 goals in 128 appearances for Genk since joining them in August 2019, is 28 and believes he could have made that big move a year or two previously.
“I saw players make a transfer who had proved less than me,” he added, with a tinge of regret.
“There were talks, but nothing really concrete. Was it difficult that I didn’t get away? Yes, but it is what it is.
“I have done more than other players who have made a transfer. And yet it still hasn’t happened. But I believe God’s timing is the best.”
After going through a bit of a rough patch last season and struggling with injury at the beginning of the current campaign, Onuachu is back to his prolific best, scoring 14 goals in 16 outings.
