LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp was left unhappy by his side’s performance in yesterday’s humiliating 3-0 Premier League defeat at Brighton.
The German referred to the display as the worst ever in his Liverpool reign, which began in October 2015.
Solly March scored twice and set up a third goal for Brighton as they totally dominated the game, leaving Liverpool bemused.
“Massively frustrated, congratulations to Brighton on a super game against a bad opponent. We were not good today, I can’t remember a good phase or period,” Klopp said in his post-match interview.
“Doing better than today should be easy, because this is a really low point. I can’t remember a worse game.”
Liverpool have been in poor form lately and lost 3-1 to Brentford in their last Premier League game on January 2, but Klopp said he had been confident of a win against the in-form Seagulls.
“There was no sign for this performance before the game, but that’s probably how it is sometimes. There’s nothing that I thought yesterday or this morning that this could happen,” he added.
Liverpool’s campaign has been hamstrung by poor performances and injuries to key players, including captain Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez.
The Reds, who were runners-up last season, are eighth in the table, seven points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United, who currently occupy the last Champions League place.
