NAPOLI owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has not ruled out selling Victor Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, the club’s best two players on current form.
Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia have inspired Napoli to the top of the Serie A table this season, combining for 28 goals, and were both on the scoresheet last night as the club defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in Germany.
Although De Laurentiis said he was confident the Nigeria striker and Georgia winger would remain at Napoli for a long time, he admitted that ‘sometimes there are offers you can’t reject’.
“I had predicted we would have a great season. When you have the same players for a long time, they tend to lose motivation,” De Laurentiis told TNT Sports Mexico after last night’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg victory.
“These new players have proved to be reliable. The thing that I like is that this side goes beyond single players. We’ve been in Europe for 14 years and I think we are the only one in Italy and it was nice to find players like Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Gonzalo Higuain.
“The fact that we now have Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, Kim and other players in midfield means this team will last in time.”
Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia have attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly willing to pay up to €100m for the Super Eagles striker and Serie A top scorer.
“I am very good at making contracts, so when they come to me, they are blocked, so keeping them here won’t be difficult,” De Laurentiis added.
“However, never say never. Sometimes there are offers you can’t refuse, so you never know. To me, we’ll see them shine for a long time.”
Napoli are currently 15 points clear at the top of Serie A, with Osimhen contributing 18 goals and three assists, while Kvaratskhelia has registered 10 goals and nine assists.
