BENDEL Insurance maintained their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League today with a 1-1 draw against Enyimba in Aba.

Hosts Enyimba took the lead from the penalty spot through Emeka Obioma one minute before half-time and looked to be about to end Insurance’s impressive record until a late intervention.

The prolific Imade Osehenkhoe drew Group A leaders Insurance level with nine minutes left on the clock.

Insurance, who are now unbeaten in their 10 NPFL fixtures, have a healthy six-point lead at the top of the table, with Akwa United climbing to second spot after a 2-0 win over Shooting Stars in Uyo.

Cyril Olisema and Taiye Murtala struck to hand Akwa United the result, which left Shooting Stars third from bottom in the 10-team group.

In Group B, Rangers came from behind in Enugu to defeat visiting Bayelsa United 2-1.

Bayelsa went in front with Alex Oyowah’s goal in the 35th minute but two penalties by Godwin Obaje sealed victory for Rangers.

With the result, the Flying Antelopes rose to seventh while Bayelsa are second from bottom.

Remo Stars and Plateau United also bagged victories in Group A to move to 17 points from 10 matches along with Enyimba as the battle for the three play-off spots intensifies.

Remo Stars overcame Nasarawa United in Ikenne, while Plateau United saw off Gombe United 2-0 in Jos.

In other NPFL results today, the first matchday of the second stanza, champions Rivers United drew 1-1 at home to Abia Warriors in Group B as Kwara United beat El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in Group A.
