NUMEROUS travelers were kidnapped after gunmen started shooting at moving vehicles in the Iche community, which is a few kilometers from Kagarko town on the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Shuaibu Yahaya, a local, said that the incident took place on Wednesday at around 7 p.m., shortly after breaking of fast.
According to Shuaibu, the bandits shot at cars and deflated their tires before moving from one to the next and kidnapping the passengers while carrying AK-57 rifles.
He said, “Their gunshots attracted my attention because my house is not far from the scene. While some of the vehicles rammed into their blockade, some of them quickly made U-turn.”
The Madaki of Janjala, Samaila Babangida, who confirmed the incident, said, “This morning (yesterday) I received a call from Kagarko that bandits abducted some passengers last night some few kilometres away from Kagarko town, but I don’t really know the number of those abducted.”
As of the time this report was filed, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command had not commented on the incident.
