REAL Madrid are keen to sign Samuel Chukwueze and pair him up with Vinicius Junior in their attack, according to reports in Spain.
The Super Eagles forward stunned the Spanish and European champions on Sunday, scoring two spectacular goals as Villarreal defeated them 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Chukwueze has now registered 11 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, attracting the interest of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
The 23-year-old Nigeria international’s contract with Villarreal will expire in June 2024, and it has a release clause of €100m, with Real Madrid reportedly willing to pay half of it at the end of this season.
“Florentino liked the performance and in the directors’ box they talked about the possibility of having Vinicius on one wing and Chukwueze on the other, two daggers,” Pedro Pablo Parrado, a transfer expert in Spain, said during the ‘Goals’ show on Marca Radio last night.
Perez reportedly had an informal meeting with Villarreal president Fernando Roig in which the Real Madrid boss made clear his club’s serious interest in the Nigerian.
Parrado added that Chukwueze has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Everton, but Real Madrid are really keen on his services.
The ‘Goals’ show director claimed that Villarreal will be reluctant to let Chukwueze go but an offer of €50m will persuade them.
While Vinicius Junior has thrived on Real Madrid’s left wing in recent seasons, the club have not had a player on the other flank with similar impact, and feel Chukwueze could be the solution.
