PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has ordered that the DSS vacate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Ikoyi, Lagos with immediate effect.
Yesterday DSS officers barricaded the entrance to the EFCC office in Ikoyi after storming the building. Gunshot were also heard in the area.
However, in a statement released by the president’s media assistant Tunde Rahman, Tinubu ordered the DSS to vacate the area.
“The President said if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably,” the short statement read.
The DSS had stormed the premises, claiming ownership of the building.
“It is not correct that the DSS barricaded EFCC from entering its office. No. It is not true,” the DSS said in a statement. “The Service is only occupying its own facility where it is carrying out its official and statutory responsibility.”
Reports reveal that the DSS representatives arrived in Lagos yesterday and parked on the road leading to the anti-graft agency’s office.
The agency’s personnel had been conducting their business calmly because they believed the DSS operatives had arrived to keep the peace.
However, once EFCC employees finished their work for the day, the DSS men entered the building and later blocked EFCC employees from entering when they returned to work today.
The DSS has however denied rumors that there was a disagreement between the two organizations.
