PAUL Onuachu could return to his former club KRC Genk as the Belgian side have expressed an interest.

The towering Super Eagles striker was a cult hero at Genk before he left them in January for Southampton in an €18m deal.

He has however struggled to adapt in England and hardly featured between February and May as the Saints finished bottom of the English Premier League and got relegated to the Championship.

Onuachu featured only 11 times for Southampton in the Premier League, making only four starts, and did not score a single goal.

Genk, where he spent three-and-a-half years and scored 84 goals in 134 matches, are now keen to bring the Nigeria international back, according to reports in Belgium today.

Incidentally, Genk replaced Onuachu with another Nigerian, Tolu Arokodare.

The 22-year-old joined Genk for €5m from French club Amiens in January on a five-year contract and registered two goals and two assists in 11 appearances.

Meanwhile, Genk will be competing with Trabzonspor for Onuachu’s services as the Turkish club have are also interested in the Super Eagles star.
