SIX persons were reportedly killed yesterday night in two communities in Benue State’s Ushongo Local Government Area by gunmen who were thought to be herdersmen.
According to a witness who spoke to press yesterday, the attackers killed five persons in the Igba Ukyor neighborhood and one person in the adjoining Tse Baka community.
He noted that at around 8:00 p.m. yesterday perpetrators rode into the Igba Ukyor neighborhood on motorcycles and began firing randomly.
The incident has not, however, been confirmed by the state police command.
Benue and other North-Central states have had Herdsmen laying siege to them for more than five years.
Criminals have killed hundreds of individuals and ruined assets worth billions of naira since 2018.
