ONDO: Govt restates commitment to creating business-friendly environment

ACTING Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

He said the business-like reputation of the state is encouraging businesses to grow enlarge and expand.

Aiyedatiwa made this known yesterday while commissioning, Premium Trust Bank, Akure branch, where he expressed delight in the ranking of the State in the ease of doing business index, adding that the ranking has risen in recent times due to the purposeful governance of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Commending the management of the bank in establishing a branch in Akure the Ag. Governor said, the action “exemplifies the trust and confidence that investors and business men have in our state’s potential” .

“It showcase our commitment to fostering favourable business environment that encourages growth, innovation and prosperity for all,” he added.

Aiyedatiwa explained that the State since 2017, has been pursuing vigorously economic reforms geared towards ensuring a most friendly environment for investors, financial institutions and other business concerns for them to thrive in State.

He disclosed that the purposeful leadership of the State under Governor Akeredolu has yielded fruitful results as the State IGR has risen from N800 million per month in 2017 to above average of over N3 billion per month as at March 2023.

 “Our administration recognizes the fact that without industrialization, there cannot be any meaningful economic development.

  “It is in this regard that we established the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), a one-stop veritable platform to drive economic growth and development by reaching out to would-be local and international investors,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He called on all stakeholders and investors to collaborate and harness the collective power of the State.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director/CEO of Premium Trust Bank, Emmanuel Emefienem applauded the Governor in encouraging them to establish a branch of the bank in the State. He promised that the bank would deliver superlatively to the people of the State.

“We create value, as banking is all about service. What we are offering fits completely with what customers want. Our physical presence here will deepen our relationship with the State and the people to deliver value,” Emefienem declared.

In attendance at launch ceremony are: Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa; his counterpart for Economic Planning and Budget, Emmanuel Igbasan;  Special Adviser to Governor on Security Matters, Adetunji Adeleye; CEO ODIRS, Tolu Adegbie; State Accountant General, Mrs Toyin Oni, Deji of Akure represented by Senior High Chief Sola Adegbomire and others.
