THE Department of State Services (DSS) interrogated Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi State’s governorship election in November.

Ododo was summoned for interrogation in connection with an opposition party petition.

It’s unclear what the petition was about, but it comes just a week after Ododo’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) challenger Muritala Ajaka’s campaign office was destroyed by fire.

The SDP stated that the ruling party was responsible for the tragedy, but the APC disputed this.

Information gathered revealed that the APC candidate spent many hours today answering detectives’ questions.

According to a source, the DSS invited Ododo based on a petition signed by several opposition members in order to deescalate tensions and ensure understanding among political gladiators before of the election.

The APC candidate confirmed the interaction with the agents, but stated that it was standard procedure.

Ododo explained that he and his party members had fruitful meetings with the DSS about the matter, which he did not divulge, and that as good citizens, he and his party members will always promote peace in the state.

“The coming election will be free and fair. There is no tension in the state ahead of the election; I urge our party members to continue to maintain peace before, during, and after the election”, he said.

Also, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Honourable Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed Ododo’s encounter with the DSS, saying that as a law-abiding citizen who is aspiring to lead the state, he honoured the invitation.

“The allegations contained in the petition are frivolous and unfounded. But , it was incumbent on the APC Governorship Candidate to respect a constituted authority such as the DSS.
