THE Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Airfield has provided accessible drinking water for special students of School for Children with Special Needs in Borokiri.

Rotarian Kelechi Ekezie, the 2023-24 President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Airfield, made this known in a post on Instagram.

“Over the years, the special students at the School for Children with Special Needs, Borokiri Port Harcourt have experienced hardship, loss of valuable time spent in long queues fetching water outside the school premises and rejection from outsiders from the lack of portable and clean drinking water in the boarding area of the School until the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Airfield came in and provided the solution to this NEED,” she wrote.

“Mrs Tanu Tombari, the principal of the School who was full of Joy said that the Club have solved a longtime problem and has given a new lease of life to the special Students and the Staff by creating Hope for them by providing Water for the School which will further enhance sanitation and hygiene of the school and students, especially for the Girl-Child as the Club fixed and renovated the entire Toilets & Bathrooms, as well as evacuating the Sewage pits. Time spent trying to get water will be put to better and more productive use.

“While commissioning the Project, Assistant Governor for Zone 31 Veronique Tabai, who represented the District Governor Emeke Utebor of @appreciators.rotaryd9141 expressed her Joy at the impact of the project and how it will improve the entire well-being of the Students.

“Representing the entire student body, Miss Lolia George, an SS2 student using the Sign Language thanked Rotarians for creating Hope for them. This Project was executed under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Area of focus of Rotary International.
