AT least one person has been confirmed dead, with others injured following a rooftop construction that caved in on an unfinished building.
The event occurred yesterday on the campus of Taraba State University in Jalingo.
According to eyewitnesses, most of whom chose anonymity, the wood used to support the iron roof was not strong enough to hold it as the crane fell, resulting in the catastrophe.
According to the institution’s information officer, Sanusi Sa’ad, the building project is handled by a contractor whose worker is said to have died, adding that no additional remark on the situation can be made.
At the time of publishing this report, all attempts to contact the contractor or the name of his company were futile.
The police are yet to respond to the event.
