THE Katsina State Government has recently screened and documented over 5,000 elementary school teachers newly hired across the state.

The chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Kabir Magaji, while overseeing the conduct of the exercise at Dutsinma, Katsina, and Mani Centers yesterday, indicated that the recruitment of teachers would surely fill the shortage of qualified instructors in the state.

Magaji commended the governor of the state, Dikko Radda, for his massive efforts to enhance the education sector by recruiting over 7,000 teachers in the state, noting that this type of recruitment had never occurred in the state’s history.

He stated that once the documentation process was completed, the newly hired teachers will attend a five-day refresher course on modern teaching and learning approaches.

He also urged the newly hired teachers to work together and closely to enhance the state’s basic education standards.

In separate remarks, the state chairman of the S-POWER Forum, who is one of the successfully hired candidates, Samaila Rabiu Musawa, and Malama Safinatu Sanda Kaita thanked the state government, under Governor Radda’s leadership for considering them worthy as teachers to contribute to the development of education in the state.

They did, however, pledge their full support and cooperation in working tirelessly to improve the state’s educational standards.
