Soyinka pays condolence visit to ex-Ghanaian President Kufour over his wife’s death

NOBEL laureate Wole Soyinka over the weekend was in the Aburi home of former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor on a condolence visit on the passing of the former Ghanaian First Lady, Theresa Kufuor.

Theresa Aba Kufuor, the wife of the second President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, died on October 1 2023 at the age of 87.

A retired nurse and midwife, Madam Theresa passed away after more than 60 years marriage to her husband.

Soyinka, a long-term friend of the Kufuors had a few years ago, spent some time in the couple’s Aburi home in the course of writing his latest book, Chronicles of the Happiest People on Earth’ — his third novel in a literary career that has spanned over six decades, yielding over 50 publications in nearly all genres of literature.

Since the publication of the book, Soyinka has been consistent in every outing paying compliments to the former Ghanian first couple for the kindness they extended to him in accomplishing the book.
