THE Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has announced the Federal Government’s goal to phase out the country’s out-of-school children problem.

This came as he commended Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Éno for the state’s basic infrastructure development.

This was featured in a press statement issued yesterday by the Press Unit of Government House, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The minister made the remark while touring the renovated Christ the King School on Wellington Bassey Way in Uyo for the University of Lagos 1984 Law Class reunion.

Earlier, the governor stated that his administration’s commitment to primary education was motivated by the desire to increase schoolchildren’s eagerness and love for learning.

He emphasized the importance of partnership between the state and federal governments in improving primary education and healthcare, among other things, for the benefit of the states and the country as a whole.

Eno stated that his goal is to replicate the model school across the state’s 31 LGAs, adding that the model will be supplemented with teacher training to ensure a full overhaul of primary education in the state.

He also mentioned that his administration is committed to rural development and the improvement of primary schools and healthcare facilities as a method for achieving rural development.
